„Christmas with Atom String Quartet”, released in November by Warner Classics, is now available on CD, LP, and on digital platforms! The ensemble’s eighth album features 20 Polish christmas carols arranged for an improvising string quartet.

The new instrumental arrangements were created by Krzysztof Lenczowski, the group’s cellist. Each member of the quartet enriched them with their own original improvisations. As a result, warm, subtle, and emotionally rich interpretations were born – ones that preserve the spirit of tradition while bringing in fresh, jazz-inspired sounds. The album’s concept was inspired by the masterful carol arrangements composed by Witold Lutosławski.

We would like our rendition of the carols to transport listeners into a fairy-tale world straight out of The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen or Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol – say the members of the quartet.

„Christmas with Atom String Quartet” is an album that soothes and illuminates, opening the door to a world in which every sound carries the scent of winter, peace, and home, bringing us closer to the essence of Christmas. You’ll hear purely folk-inspired tones, as well as the wonderfully atmospheric jazz improvisations that are characteristic of Atom String Quartet. The carols sound as if they were telling their stories anew – gently, intimately, full of sonic detail.

This is not a typical Christmas album. There is no excess or grandiosity here – only space, subtlety, and emotion. It’s music that doesn’t overpower the holidays, but delicately wraps them in sound.

The album is available on CD and vinyl, so everyone can choose the listening format that suits their winter evenings best – by the Christmas tree, by candlelight, or simply with a cup of hot tea.

The album’s premiere concert will take place on January 9, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Concert Hall of ZPSM No. 1 – Nowa Miodowa, 21 Rakowiecka Street in Warsaw.
