Atom String Quartet announces new album — polish funk classics in a jazz arrangement

Atom String Quartet is preparing to release their tenth studio album! On Friday, 13 March, the quartet performed premiere tracks from the new record at the Jazz Club on Polish Radio Channel 2 (Dwójka).

The album will be released in spring by Warner Music Poland as part of the iconic Polish Jazz series. This time, the musicians turned their attention to Polish funk compositions — mainly from the 1970s and 1980s – a period that significantly shaped the polish jazz scene.

The record will feature jazz arrangements of works by such masters as Michał Urbaniak, Janusz Muniak, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Zbigniew Seifert, Jarosław Śmietana, and Władysław „Adzik” Sendecki.

Listeners didn’t have to wait until the official release to hear the new material – the premiere tracks, previously unpublished anywhere, were performed live at the Jazz Club on Polish Radio Channel 2 (Dwójka).

The premiere recordings were also presented the following day – on Saturday, 14 March – on TVP Kultura and the TVP VOD platform. The first episode of the new season of the Jazz Club, hosted by Roch Siciński, can be watched on the YouTube channel of Polish Radio Channel 2 (Dwójka), as well as on TVP Kultura and TVP VOD.
